A long time ago, March 2001 if I remember correctly, I got my first email address… you know, back in the days of Web 1.0! Like most young people, taking their first cyber baby steps, my first email account was with Microsoft’s Hotmail (sadly, I didn’t have an account back when it was “HoTMaiL”, i.e. when it was still independent). Ever since then, Microsoft started adding more to their service…

…now, it seems they seem to just be taking those features away, first to go was MSN chat, next, MSN groups, and now, they plan to remove “Windows Live Spaces” (formally, MSN Spaces) early 2011…

Now, MSN Spaces let you upload pictures, and write a blog.. think of it as the MyFace/SpacePress/Wordbook’s grandfather. I didn’t used to think much of blogs, so I started the MSN one they way I used to start all blogs, with a simple post saying “I Don’t Do Blogs” and just leave it!

Microsoft have recently mass emailed everyone telling them that they are going to close the Live Spaces site and people have the option to convert their blogs to WordPress. This gave me the opportunity to look at that blog, and there I discovered the 3 anti-windows posts I posted there 4 years ago!

Disclaimer: The views expressed in these posts are outdated, and I’m no longer what people would call a “Linux Fan Boy” as I believe all systems have their pros and cons, these are mearly views expressed as a naive teenager!

Now that’s out of the way, enjoy reading my views as a 16 year old, spelling mistakes and all!

Time now to rub into microsofts faces by saying how bad they are on a space hosted by microsoft!

The computing world seems to have been corrupted with microsoft based crap! It seems people are only using microsoft products because they dont know any different! Large companys are taking this into account and only developing products that will ONLY work with windows. Here is a recent entry found on a forum for support on the VoIP program “Skype”:

Linux users have been quite simply been dumped.

This is a clear case of “windowsisum” it seems that there are more people switching to windows alternatives and software companys dont want that and try to get people back to microsoft based products!

My mission is to eventually stop using all microsoft based product volenteraly!

So far i have one pc (this one i am using to type this) that is running SuSE Linux by default and the only microsoft related stuff i am using is windows running through a VMware vertual machine and the MSN network (running through the wonderful program “gaim”)

I once saw a picture posted on an internet forum saying “Microslave, you arn’t going anywhere today!” (refering to the windows 95 slogan “where do you want to go today”) this seems to be the case as microsoft seem to be controling the computing world the way THEY want it! What ever happened to the good old days when you had a choice of what you wanted your computer to use (PC-DOS, MS-DOS, OS/2, windows and unix) and everything was ported to work evenly on the different systems!

Now it seems only the geeks with the know how (and the mac users) are seeing the light and leaving the mess and rubbish the people call Microsoft for something more stable and reliable, and know they are not being watched by “big brother” also known as Bill Gates!

If you ask me, it is penguin power all the way (if you know what i meen!), if you are reading this and thinking what the hell , there is an alterative to WINDOWS!!!!! then i am afrade you are one of the many “microslaves” working under the master of Bill and have been blinded by the truth. A good 5 minute Googleing should tell you that microsoft are not the mirical company that they are shown as!

Think about it, if bill has put in a string of code into the windows operating code (bareing in mind that it is “Closed Source” so anything could be in there) to “Nuke” all pc’s in the world running windows, and this is activated, wouldn’t the whole world be chaos!!!

Scary though isn’t it…

The great thing is, it’s true! LINUX RULES!!!

When people try to say linux is 5#17 (good old 1337 speak )

e.g. more people use Windows than Linux

Well, yes, but people CHOOSE to use Linux, people are forced to use \/\/1/\/)0\/\/5!

Give it a try, I would recomend Knoppix for first time Linux user as it runs of a CD and doesn’t require messing with your hard drive
